March. The month of spring. In the north, this is the month of melting (hopefully). The month we become restless for summer. When our days get longer & nights shorter. This March, let’s make the most out of Spring.

This month we’ll bring you posts to help inspire and motivate. Work along with us to make positive changes in your life that will set you up for success all year long!

Day 20 – Action Plan – Deep Clean Your Appliances

Do you have hard water where you live? In my area of Michigan our water is full of minerals and that unfortunately means my appliances are too. 🙁

We’ve been considering a water softener for awhile now, but haven’t been able to work it into our monthly budget while working our Debt Snowball – so in the mean time we need to periodically treat our appliances for mineral build up. It’s not a perfect answer – but I feel better taking this step to keep my appliances running well every few months.

Today I’ll be running a mineral build up cleaner through my dishwasher, washing machine, shower heads and at some point this spring (but not today!) I’ll be trying E-How’s directions for cleaning our water dispenser on the refrigerator. The great thing is that deep cleaning your appliances is as easy as pressing start!

There is one more major appliance you might have noticed I didn’t include – my oven. That ‘self clean’ button is seriously amazing unless its still winter outside where you live, like here, because that makes a self clean oven a little difficult. 🙁 There’s nothing quite like running the self clean with the windows closed…… Oh. Wait. I meant that would be terrible, so in the meantime I’m waiting for warm weather before I run the self cleaning oven! 🙂

What appliances will you deep clean today? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
