Let’s See Your Mom Pants!

Last week a friend of mine on Facebook shared a pretty cute post from The Honest Toddler about what to buy moms this holiday season. One of the items she mentioned was ‘black stretchy pants.’ Here’s what she had to say:

While women on television wear a variety of clothing including dresses and jeans, mothers are required by law to wear black stretchy pants day in and day out. These pants are a government-issued uniform which is why you see so many moms wearing the exact same ones. Unfortunately due to state budget cuts moms only get one pair. This causes many of them to live in the same threadbare ones 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Why not surprise her with a new set? Now she can stay relatively fresh. Why black? While this color emphasis your dry mucous, it hides almost all other stains giving her the appearance of a clean person. – (See more at: http://www.thehonesttoddler.com/2013/12/christmas-gift-guide-for-moms-what-moms.html#sthash.7r4xfZJW.dpuf)

Well this got me thinking….

  1. Do I wear black stretchy pants while at home? Guilty.
  2. Do I own only one pair? Indeed.
  3. Does the pair I own sort of resemble a sad, lonesome sock you find behind your dryer? Why yes.
OMG! The Honest Toddler has been to my house. She knows me. Stalker! Oh wait, you mean that’s an all too common norm among mothers of small children? Even Money Saving Mom did a fantastic post about how us moms get stuck in a rut of ‘lounge wear’ within the walls of our homes. Uh, oh.
Well I guess if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.
Here’s my favorite pants to lounge around the house in Marika Woman’s Casual Lounge/Yoga Pants. I originally received these second hand from my mother-in-law who thought they might be long enough for me. At 6′ I have a hard time finding long enough pants, period, let alone lounge/pj/yoga pants which seem to shrink the instant they enter your home. Well, sure enough, she was right. I’ve been wearing my size XLΒ Marika pants at least 3 days a week for over a year and I still LOVE them. But The Honest Toddler did get me thinking… perhaps I should own a second pair of these wonderful pants. πŸ™‚

Do you spend far too many hours in comfy, black stretchy pants? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
