Best Financial Peace University Quotes – Weeks 8 & 9

In the last couple of weeks we attended weeks 8 & 9 of Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. Not only was it inspiring & motivational, but dare I say it was actually….. fun. Weeks 8 & 9 covered Real Estate & Mortgages and Giving.
This is a special moment because my husband and I have officially graduated from FPU! We’ve learned so much and are incredibly thankful for our wonderful instructor and the entire Dave Ramsey staff for making such a wonderful program. Thankfully when you finish the class you have a life long “ticket” into class – so we’ll be retaking the course next fall as a refresher! 🙂 For now, here are our favorite quotes from weeks 8 & 9.

“You don’t pay off your house early by accident. This only happens if you’ve been diligently working that budget every month for several years.” – Dave Ramsey

“There is nothing wrong with renting for a little while. This demonstrates patience and wisdom.” – Dave Ramsey <—-Where was the quote a few years ago when we needed to hear it?! 🙂

“Buy in the bottom price range of the neighborhood, and never over-build your neighborhood through home additions and improvements.” – Dave Ramsey

“90% of possible home buyers shop online first.” – Dave Ramsey

“89% of purchased homes were listed through an agent.” – Dave Ramsey

“According to the Census Bureau, 30% of home owners have no mortgage debt of any type.” – Census

“Mortgage Guideline: Get a monthly payment of no more than 25% of your take-home pay on a 15 year fixed-rate loan, with at least 10% down.” – Chris Hogan

“If you have an adjustable rate mortgage, refinance immediately.” – Chris Hogan

“Bad mortgage ideas: reverse mortgages, interest-only loans & accelerated or bi-weekly payoff programs.” – Chris Hogan

“When selling a home, you should think like a retailer. Empty your cupboards to make them seem larger. Remove half of the items in a closet to maximize space & make them view larger. Turn all the lights in the house on. Get rid of smells & remove all traces of animals. Bake (cookies, pie, etc.) before they arrive. Light scented candles throughout the house.” – Chris Hogan

“The most important aspect of preparation is attention to curb appeal.” – Chris Hogan
